Pilates Instructor, TPI Golf Fitness expert, personal trainer
Maria received a marketing degree from Pace University and entered the field of sales promotion in NYC during which time she continued her love of running and designing exercise programs for herself. After the birth of her children, and always harboring a love of physical fitness, Maria began her career in the health and fitness industry in 2002 when she became a certifed personal trainer and launched her own fitness training business.
Her very first client is still one her favorites. Frank C. referred by his doctor. Frank hated exercise, had a very stressful job, and ate only one meal a day which included potato chips! He was overweight, had high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol. Maria worked with Frank twice a week slowly incorporating positive lifestyle changes. After three years Frank retired and moved South at which time he was 52 pounds lighter, his cholesterol was back to a healthy range and he was taken off blood pressure medication. And Frank loves riding his stationary bike to the Beach Boys!!!!!
Always staying fit but seeing changes in her body after child birth Maria decided to try Pilates and realized the practice works and changes the body differently than tradition exercise. She wanted to bring the benefits of the Pilates practice to her clients and became certified in Pilates Mat and Reformer.
She also has a certification as a Cancer Exercise Specialist working with individuals diagnosed with cancer and working through treatment utilizing Pilates and traditional exercise.
Maria personally experienced the benefits of physical movement during a time when she was facing challenges both physically and emotionally. Over these few years’ exercise became her therapy and her medicine. Through movement she learned how to heal and understand how the holistic benefits of physical training go beyond a strong healthy body.
Maria’s mission is with compassion to teach those she works with the connection between a healthy body and a healthy mind and the power of this connection to pull us through our ever changing lives, promoting strength, balance and self-acceptance.
